| Anaheim is a city in southern California with a population of over 350,000. It is the fifty-fifth largest city in the nation. The city lies about thirty miles east of Los Angeles. The climate is mild with winter temperatures averaging a low of 45 degrees and summer temperatures averaging a high of 86. Tourism is the most prominent industry in the Anaheim area. Walt Disney Company (and Disneyland) is the area's top employer. Other large companies with corporation offices in Anaheim include General Dynamics, Kaiser Foundation, and AT&T. The area is served by the Los Angeles International Airport, Long Beach Airport, and John Wayne Airport. Local sports teams include the Anaheim Ducks hockey team (NHL) and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim baseball team (MLB), who play at Angel Stadium. Past or present famous residents include Gwen Stefani, Chuck Norris, and Tommy John. The city's largest hospital is the Anaheim Memorial Medical Center. Tenet Healthcare is also located there. Interstate 5 (I-5) passes through Anaheim. Other main highways include SR 91 (the Riverside Freeway) and SR 57 (the Orange Freeway). |
